Responsible Celebrating

In 2007 there were 2.9 million people between 15 and 24 in Australia. The 2007 National Drug Strategy Survey found that:-

  • Males and females in this age group, on average, started drinking at 15 & 17 years of age respectively.
  • Twenty three percent of 15 to 24 year olds used an illicit substance within the 12 months prior to participating in the survey.

Transport accidents were the leading cause of death in the 15 to 24 age group in 2007.

The Responsible Celebrating harm reduction initiative addresses the risks associated with drug & alcohol use and driving through education. Responsible Celebrating disseminates harm reduction information via qualified counsellors & presentors and online via the Responsible Celebrating blog, the founder’s Twitter account (DrugCounsellor) and Facebook.
